WHAT IS IT?
ProG-Phen® is a unique ingredient obtained by the combination of M.E.D.® PROPOLIS polyphenols compounds with a Grapefruit extract. The high concentration of Polyphenols > 40% tot. Polyphenols HLPC-UV-ES-MS (15-20% NARANGIN HPLC ES MS) guarantee a strong activity as: Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, bacteriostatic, antimycotic and antiviral properties proven by several vitro/vivo and clinical studies. ProG-Phen® is available in powder and liquid form and it is suitable for food supplement, medical device and cosmetics.
The word PROPOLIS mean before (PRO) the city (POLIS) as is concentrated in the entrance and in the walls of the beehives. Propolis is a waxy resinous raw material obtained through the cooperation between flora and fauna: plants are producing resins to protect them from external stress as UV rays, fungi or bacteria. The Bees (Apis mellifera) collect from gems, exudates and plants and they use it to close hive holes and to protect the beehive from infections. Propolis is a great source of polyphenols due to his natural heterogeneity. Among the most representative metabolites of propolis there are flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolic acids, phenolic esters and sugars in different proportions. M.E.D.® PROPOLIS is a propolis extract obtained through the method of extraction patented by B NATURAL (N°001425516): M.E.D.® (Multy Dinamic Extraction).
The extract obtained with Multi Dynamic Extraction method contains the integral complex of polyphenols is characterized and standardized by the presence of a biologically active polyphenol complex, identified in six major polyphenols: galangin, chrysin, pinocembrin, apigenin, pinobanksin, quercetin, having a relative concentration in the extract always greater than 25% (w/w) determined in HPLC-ESI-MS..
Grapefruit is a popular name for the edible fruit of Citrus Paradis now widely used in the dietary of American and European households.
This citrus fruit is rich in water, vitamins (A, C) and antioxidant compounds (FLAVONOIDS) as Naringin.
Due to his richness in flavonoids, Grapefruit is widely used in phytoterapy, where it is used for its antioxidant and antibacterial properties. In fact, the flavonoids present inside the Grapefruit extract appear to be able to inhibit the structure and efficiency of the microbial cell membrane. For this reason, Grapefruit extract is considered as powerful bactericidal and antiviral. Moreover, the flavonoids of Grapefruit extract have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunostimulant activities.
APPLICATIONS
In literature there are hundreds of studies supporting the healthy properties of Propolis, such as gastroprotective, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, wound healing and antidiabetic activities.
These Propolis properties are ascribed to three main activities namely antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.

UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION
ProG-Phen® is ideal to prevent infection from virus and bacteria. Thanks to his anti-inflammatory activity, it is also indicated to prevent and to treat the symptoms of an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI) that involves nose and throat. ProG-Phen® is suitable for different galenic forms: oral and nasal spray, tablet, lozenges, syrup and capsules.
INTIMATE CARE
ProG-Phen® is ideal to prevent urinary tract infection (UTI) and infection of vaginal mucosae. M.E.D.® Polyphenols are active against many strains of fungi and bacteria involved in UTI infection as Coli and Candida Albicans.
ProG-Phen® can also help to reduce the inflammation status caused by the infection. ProG-Phen® is suitable for different galenic forms: vaginal ovules and capsules, gel, cream, vaginal douche and soap detergent.
ORAL CARE
ProG-Phen® is active against the bacteria that causes for example plaque, halitosis, caries and periodontitis. A study that involved M.E.D.® polyphenols shown also an activity against the virus of Herpes Simplex (HSV1 and HSV2). ProG-Phen® is suitable for different galenic forms: toothpaste, mouthwash, chewing gum, cream, labial stick and gels.
Thanks to the high dosage in TOT. POLYPHENOLS, ProG-Phen® can prevent infection and inflammation status even with low dosage in the formulation. The synergism between the polyphenols of M.E.D.® Propolis and flavonoids from Grapefruit extract extends the activities on a larger number of pathogens and enhances the antioxidant activity.
